About the position

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing external communications functions, including media relations, business team support, social media engagement, executive communications, conference and event support, market and industry research, media monitoring, and the creation of direct content. You will oversee daily media coverage, coordinate agency activities, manage key vendor relationships, and work directly with the company's marketing teams on directing public relations initiatives and campaigns. Additionally, you will actively manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues within your day-to-day role to management.

Responsibilities

• Manage external communications functions including media relations and social media engagement.
• Oversee daily media coverage and coordinate agency activities.
• Manage key vendor relationships and work with marketing teams on public relations initiatives.
• Develop and lead public relations initiatives for banking and payments businesses.
• Compile competitive marketplace intelligence and monitor daily news.
• Conduct media outreach and research for supported business units.
• Field calls from reporters and pitch story angles for products and services.
• Prepare documents for spokespersons for media interviews and ensure deadlines are met.
• Lead strategy and communication with key department vendors.
• Write drafts of plans including timelines and checklists.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in journalism, PR agency account representation, communications coordination, or related experience.
• In lieu of education, 8+ years of experience in Public Relations Agency or related corporate environment, journalism, or related experience.
