Senior Public Relations Specialist

About the position

The Senior Public Relations Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance the Credit Union's reputation, manage crises, and promote key strategies and initiatives. This role requires excellent communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute public relations strategies to support the Credit Union's goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align PR efforts with marketing and business strategies.
• Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts, including journalists, editors, and influencers.
• Craft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials.
• Pitch stories and secure media coverage for Credit Union's news, events, and initiatives.
• Write and edit a variety of content, including press releases, speeches, articles, and social media posts.
• Develop and manage the Credit Union's content calendar to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
• Develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate potential issues.
• Serve as a key spokesperson during crises, providing timely and accurate information to the media and public.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback and build strong relationships.
• Develop and maintain a database of contacts and media lists.
• Track and analyze media coverage and PR metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field required.
• 5-7 years of previous related experience in public relations, preferably in a corporate or agency setting required.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience with media relations and crisis management.
• Familiarity with PR software and tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater, Hootsuite).
• Knowledge of social media platforms and their role in public relations.

• Competitive salary range of $86,917.00 - $130,376.00.
