About the position

The Senior Purchasing & Warehouse Manager at the University of Colorado is a pivotal role within the Levy Sector of Compass Group, responsible for ensuring product availability, quality, and cost-effectiveness while delivering "The Levy Difference". This position requires maintaining strong partnerships with all vendors to meet operational product needs in a timely manner. The manager will evaluate and recommend new products to enhance standards and increase profitability, ensuring that all areas maintain a "show quality" appearance at all times. The role involves a comprehensive understanding of all menus, product offerings, packaging, and pricing, which is essential for effective management and operational success. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Senior Purchasing & Warehouse Manager will implement good safety and sanitation practices, ensuring proper product control and handling of all inventory and equipment. The manager will be tasked with achieving daily sales and assigned cost and budget goals, contributing to the completion of required department reports, and assisting in compiling information at month-end closing. It is crucial for the manager to ensure that team members adhere to Levy Company guidelines as stated in the team member training manual and employee handbook, while also ensuring that all security, safety, and sanitation standards are met. Proper storage, rotation, and dating of all products in accordance with Levy guidelines are also key responsibilities. The role requires effective team management, utilizing performance management tools to provide guidance and feedback to team members. The manager will promote a cooperative work climate to maximize productivity and morale, and will be involved in interviewing, hiring, training, and developing team members according to Levy guidelines. A positive attitude towards team members is essential for fostering a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure product availability, quality, and cost-effectiveness while delivering 'The Levy Difference'.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with all vendors to meet operational product needs in a timely manner.

  • Interview, hire, train, and develop team members according to Levy guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years related experience in the field and two years of management experience.
  • Full knowledge of purchasing procedures in food and beverage.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ordering systems.
  • Good knowledge of food and inventory trends with a focus on operations.
  • Serve Safe certified highly desirable.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends and possess a valid driver's license.
