About the position

The Senior Python Developer role is a contract position focused on providing L3 production support for Python-based applications within the Insurance industry. The position requires hands-on technical expertise to resolve issues, enhance code, and improve application performance while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure efficient application onboarding and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide L3 Production Support for Python-based I&CM core applications.
• Provide solutions to technical issues, including hands-on code enhancements and defect fixing.
• Serve as a champion for change within the development team.
• Drive for tactical outcomes to increase development team efficiency and productivity.
• Engage with business users, application owners, and other affected parties during problem resolution.
• Document lessons learned and help maintain a knowledge database.
• Coordinate end-to-end application onboarding to production.
• Provide occasional off-hour deployment and application validation support.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, pytest, numpy, and pandas.
• Experience in designing and implementing web-based applications using Python.
• Ability to develop specifications and designs for complex applications or modify/maintain existing applications.
• Experience in code analysis, requirements analysis, and software reliability analysis.
• Strong SQL performance tuning skills and ability to write complex SQL queries.
• Experience working closely with design teams and business owners to define and implement features.
• Ability to evaluate and suggest improvements to existing development work.
• Experience collaborating with development teams to ensure data validation and presentation through APIs and database calls.
• Familiarity with standard code management tools including Git and Agile software development processes.
• Experience with DevOps (CICD) environments is a plus.
• Experience in the financial industry is a plus.
