The Automation Engineer is responsible for writing test design specifications and automated test cases, as well as designing and developing test automation frameworks and tools to ensure the functionality of the software. This role involves handling work of moderate to complex scope and complexity, requiring a deep understanding of software quality assurance and testing methodologies. The Automation Engineer will collaborate closely with Product Analysts, Product Managers, and other relevant parties to design and document test cases for both new and existing product features within Tyler's software application. In this position, the Automation Engineer will design, implement, and execute test cases based on product functional specifications. They will develop, implement, and maintain test automation scripts using various automation tools, and create a solid test automation framework. The role also involves analyzing software issues to determine root causes and providing detailed reports to the QA Manager and Software Engineers. Conducting thorough and accurate software testing is essential, as is providing approvals during development sprints, integration, release, regression, and patch software development phases. The Automation Engineer will document results and perform comprehensive testing to validate that program modules meet specifications and standards. Additionally, the Automation Engineer will participate in agile scrum meetings to gain and apply knowledge of feature requirements and system operation, ensuring that new feature stories have appropriate test criteria defined. They will review and edit regression test case scripts, document and execute various testing approaches, and assist product development in designing acceptance test criteria for new product feature stories. The role may also involve training other team members and new QA staff when new processes are introduced, ensuring consistency throughout the department. Occasional travel may occur, and the Automation Engineer will perform other duties as assigned.
