About the position

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer plays a critical role in supporting new product development, lean implementation, and process capability improvement within the aerospace manufacturing sector. This position involves daily production support, project management, and technical data analysis, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations. The engineer will interface with customer quality representatives, lead problem-solving teams, and drive initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with customer Quality representatives on all Quality-related issues and activities.
  • Conduct Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Concession submittals.
  • Drive manufacturing process capability improvements through variation reduction and error-proofing.
  • Collect and analyze quality data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide leadership on problem-solving teams to drive root cause analysis and Corrective/Preventive Action (CAPA) plans.
  • Represent the Quality department on New Product Introduction (NPI) teams.
  • Perform contract reviews and drive design-for-quality activities.
  • Review and approve First Article Inspection reports per AS9102.
  • Manage major program manufacturing process qualification.
  • Support Supplier Quality Engineering for supplier quality development.
  • Validate and respond to Corrective and Preventive Action Requests (CAR/PAR).
  • Witness the tear down and evaluation of customer-returned products.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) and Configuration Control Board (CCB) processes.
  • Develop process flow charts/diagrams and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Create statistically valid control plans for manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct internal and external quality system audits.
  • Provide technical leadership to inspection team members.
  • Support product/process certifications and approvals.
  • Develop and analyze product/process trend data to optimize manufacturing performance.
  • Develop product quality plans and inspection methodologies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in aerospace quality and manufacturing.
  • Experience in blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of FAA Repair Station regulations and requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills aimed at identifying and correcting root causes.
  • Proven business/technical writing, presentation, planning, and project management skills.
  • Understanding of government contract requirements and major aerospace prime customer requirements.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and methodology; green belt or black belt experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of problem-solving tools such as 5-Whys, FMEA, 8-D, and Pareto analysis.
  • Experience with aerospace Quality Management Systems: ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9110, FAR 21, FAR 145, and Nadcap requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with flight critical components/systems.
  • Experience in industrialization processes such as PPAP, PVI (DVI) with FAI per AS9102.
  • Six Sigma certification (green belt or black belt).
