About the position

The Senior QA Engineer Energy at AtkinsRéalis is responsible for establishing quality standards for products and materials, developing testing methods, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance procedures. This role involves supporting project management in implementing quality controls, conducting audits, and providing training to QA staff. The position is crucial in maintaining high-quality standards in energy solutions, ensuring that all processes meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set quality standards for both in-process and finished products and materials.
  • Develop methods for testing, sampling, and training.
  • Assist line organizations with implementation of EnergySolutions quality assurance (QA) procedures.
  • Provide support for the development, review, revision, and approval of quality-related procedures and plans.
  • Ensure project plans are properly executed and evaluate the effectiveness of controls.
  • Verify that all required quality sampling, testing, and documentation are performed correctly.
  • Review engineering designs and design changes for compliance with applicable procedures and plans.
  • Serve as a QA representative in project design reviews.
  • Support management and staff with QA services, including root cause analyses and critiques.
  • Train and oversee inspectors in their use of control forms and procedures.
  • Ensure engineering and technical staff understand quality requirements.
  • Help line managers and project managers develop, revise, process, and evaluate documents for compliance with QA requirements.
  • Perform independent QA assessments/audits and surveillances of processes and procedures.
  • Conduct walkthroughs as requested.
  • Maintain knowledge/qualifications on quality methods and techniques.
  • Review engineering packages to ensure appropriate quality controls are specified.
  • Conduct event investigations including critiques, root cause analyses, and corrective action verification/validation.
  • Perform supplier evaluations as a team member or lead.
  • Perform on-site QA overview activities at various supplier locations and travel between facilities as necessary.
  • Develop supplier performance metrics and track supplier corrective actions.
  • Oversee procurement, fabrication, testing, and final document review and release for material shipments.
  • Develop and provide training on QA-related topics and assist in the resolution of quality-related problems.
  • Provide training to QA Engineers 1 and 2 and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., engineering or a scientific discipline) with 10 years' experience as a QA Engineer; or AS Degree with 15 years' experience; or High School diploma with 20 years' experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience working in a lead role in audit/assessment planning, reporting, and follow-up activities.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management/organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player attitude.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Detailed knowledge of NQA-1 and DOE QA regulations and directives.
  • Working knowledge of applicable national and/or international testing standards.
  • Working knowledge of assessment/auditing practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of nuclear facility QA design control requirements.
  • Detailed knowledge of causal analysis techniques.
  • Working knowledge of radioactive and/or hazardous material management.
  • Detailed knowledge of DOE and NRC processes for Integrated Safety Management Systems, nuclear safety, radiation safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Detailed knowledge of fabrication and testing of mechanical and electrical systems, national codes/standards, fabrication drawings, welding processes, nondestructive testing processes, and mechanical and electrical testing activities.
  • Certification as an ASQ Lead Auditor.
  • Certification as a lead auditor per NQA-1.
  • Must be a U.S citizen.
