About the position

The Senior QA Engineer will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the Next Generation 911 (NG911) system for the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). This position is essential for the ongoing project work related to the Class 1/2/3 and NG911 Call Handling upgrade of the emergency call system. The QA Engineer will provide expertise and technical specialization during the testing and configuration phases, ensuring that the system meets the highest standards of quality and reliability. In this role, the Senior QA Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality, specifically focusing on FIRE and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) systems. The engineer will create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases that align with the requirements of FIRE and EMD dispatch. Additionally, the engineer will coordinate testing activities with FDNY and associated vendors, ensuring that all testing processes are adhered to and that any issues are proactively addressed. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong troubleshooting and debugging skills. The Senior QA Engineer will also be expected to ensure compliance with industry regulatory and quality standards, contributing to the overall success of the NG911 project. This is a hybrid position, requiring three days in the office and two days remote, and is expected to last for a duration of 12 months or more.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing and overseeing the NG911 - FDNY system.
  • Continue project work for the Class 1/2/3 and NG911 Call Handling upgrade.
  • Provide expertise and technical specialization during testing and configuration phases.
  • Develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality specific to FIRE and EMD.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases related to FIRE & EMD dispatch.
  • Develop, prioritize, and coordinate testing activities with FDNY and associated vendors.
  • Develop and execute automation scripts in support of FIRE and EMD.
  • Develop and apply testing processes in support of FIRE and EMD.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in a particular technical and/or business application, product, platform, methodology or skill set.
  • Testing Public Safety/Dispatch Applications or systems experience.
  • Previous integration/test experience on a large system.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving any issue, both technical and non-technical, with strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Experience utilizing Selenium Test Suite, Mercury Interactive Tools, Maven, Rational SQA Suite/Team Test.
  • Ensure abidance by industry regulatory and quality standards.
