About the position

The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst/Lead - Manual position is a critical role within our organization, focusing on ensuring the quality and functionality of our software products. This position is based in Saint Paul, MN, and operates in a hybrid work environment, allowing for both in-office and remote work. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading QA efforts, defining testable requirements, and ensuring that all functional and technical specifications are met throughout the software development lifecycle. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Developers, and Database Administrators to create detailed and reusable test cases, as well as to develop comprehensive test strategies and plans. You will also be involved in performance and load testing, working alongside Performance Engineers to identify critical business flows. Your leadership will be essential in managing the overall scope of testing efforts, communicating effectively with stakeholders, and providing timely updates on project statuses. As a Senior QA Analyst/Lead, you will be expected to document defects accurately and participate in defect triage meetings. You will also be responsible for executing both manual and automated test cases, ensuring that all testing activities align with the established test plan. Your expertise will guide the QA team in adapting to changes in project requirements, scope, and schedules, ensuring that quality is maintained at every stage of the project. This position requires a strong background in quality assurance, with a minimum of seven years of experience in QA roles, including three years in a lead capacity. You will need to demonstrate proficiency in using QA tools and remote collaboration platforms, as well as a solid understanding of SQL for testing purposes. Familiarity with healthcare reform solutions and Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) will be advantageous, as will experience with mainframe applications and utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Define and write Functional and Technical Testable Requirements (Waterfall) and/or User Stories and Acceptance Criteria (Agile).
  • Understand and approve Functional and Technical Requirements and/or Acceptance Criteria as a QA project lead.
  • Review Design documents to ensure alignment with Requirements and approve them if necessary.
  • Create or assist in creating the Level of Effort (LOE) estimate, Test Strategy, and Test Plan for testing activities.
  • Lead or collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, and Database Administrators to write detailed Functional, System Integration, and Regression Test Cases.
  • Assist Performance Engineers in identifying business flows for Performance/Load testing.
  • Collaborate with Automation Engineers to determine test cases for Smoke/Regression testing.
  • Document all defects in the defect tracking tool and participate in Defect Triage and Review meetings.
  • Provide QA leadership, manage the scope of testing efforts, and communicate statuses effectively.
  • Complete required QA documentation and obtain necessary approvals and sign-offs.
  • Execute Manual and Automation Test Cases for various test types according to the Test Plan.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years' experience in a Quality Assurance Analyst role, including planning and executing end-to-end testing of integrated systems.
  • Three (3) years' experience in a Quality Assurance Lead role, coordinating various testing activities and demonstrating strong verbal communication skills.
  • One (1) year of experience using remote collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Skype, SharePoint, etc.
  • One (1) year experience using standard QA tools for creating, storing, and sharing testing documentation.
  • Experience writing and executing complex SQL query commands.
  • Three (3) years' experience testing Cram solutions for healthcare reform and/or integrated systems using Curam healthcare data (if applicable).
  • Three (3) years' experience testing MMIS (Medicaid Management Information Systems) (if applicable).
  • Five (5) years' experience testing mainframe applications and utilities such as TSO, ISPF, and JCL (if applicable).
