About the position

Moog Space Group is looking for a Quality Assurance Receiving Inspector to join them on a 9/80 work schedule. You will report to the Quality Control Manager. This position is based onsite in Phoenix, AZ, and involves performing inspections to industry standards for mechanical components, electronic assemblies, incoming EEE parts, PCB inspections per IPC standards, and source inspections. The role requires a strong understanding of blueprints and mechanical drawings, as well as experience in inspection of electronic parts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving inspection of incoming mechanical parts (visual and dimensional checks) and electronic components.
  • Understand the proper operation, use, and handling of calibrated measurement equipment.
  • Become NASA 8739, or IPC J-Std certified.
  • Use all inspection equipment, including surface plates, calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, height gauges, dial indicators, etc., for detailed component inspections.
  • Expert level skills in the interpretation and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in accordance with ANSI Y14.5.
  • Follow departmental standard work and recommend improvements to the inspection process/plans.
  • Generate training material and methodologies for continuous improvement to internal staff.
  • Generate inspection reports and non-conformances using internal tools (TipQA).
  • Support on-site customer inspections and determine non-conformances based on industry standards.
  • Work independently and proactively tackle tasks to closure.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 5 years or more of experience as a mechanical inspector with strong understanding and interpretation of blueprints/mechanical drawings and inspection of electronic parts.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); certification preferred.
  • Experience with selection, handling, and proper use of measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.
  • Basic computer program skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • Current or Prior NASA 8739, or IPC J-Std certification as an inspector and/or trainer.
  • Experience in reading blueprints or equivalent using precision measuring equipment and working with various quality standards.
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) experience.
  • Experience with nonconformance tracking tools such as TIPQA or equivalent.
  • Experience in a Quality or similar organization, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience with companies that produce electrical or electronics products.
  • Ability to work with computer software tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
