About the position

The Senior Quality Engineer at Fortive Corporation is responsible for ensuring internal and external quality within assigned areas, focusing on product quality and supporting new product development. This role involves leading quality assurance initiatives, conducting audits, managing supplier quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align quality objectives. The position requires a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and quality management standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality assurance initiatives, define QA strategies, and establish testing methodologies to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Quality Engineers, fostering a culture of quality within the team
  • Generate and report quality KPIs (both internal and external)
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, and operations, to align quality objectives and ensure a shared understanding of requirements
  • Plan and execute internal process and product audits
  • Define actions or countermeasures arising from internal audits, ensuring timely implementation
  • Manage and execute external audits as needed
  • Participate in project teams to represent quality management interests
  • Develop and maintain quality plans for existing and new products, in collaboration with operations and project teams
  • Participate in the creation of qualification test matrices in preparation for product launches
  • Lead or participate in pilot runs and follow up on resulting action lists
  • Manage product releases and serial releases, including PAPP if requested by customers
  • Lead and coordinate efforts to address quality problems, such as customer call-backs and significant production issues
  • Plan and execute in-process quality control tests, aligning actions with operations leadership and following up on actions
  • Validate and approve supplier FAIs
  • Diagnose customer reclamations, define countermeasures, and handle relevant communication and reporting
  • Validate and maintain testing equipment in collaboration with the Industrial Engineering team
  • Supervise Quality Technicians, managing associate hours, performance, and development
  • Assist Supply Chain in developing and executing processes to qualify new and exit risky suppliers
  • Assist in developing DFMEA and PFMEA for manufacturing processes and new products
  • Provide Quality leadership to the manufacturing team to ensure customer and quality expectations are met
  • Develop APQP and ISIR in support of manufacturing
  • Assist in the completion and closure of product non-conformance reports
  • Provide documentation of root cause and corrective actions for customer complaints involving supplier non-conformances

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in a Technical discipline; Engineering discipline from a four-year University preferred
  • 6+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced complex problem-solving capability and experience
  • Experience in managing technical personnel and complex activities

Nice-to-haves

  • 6-10 years relevant Quality Engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information and prepare executive summaries
  • Proven ability to prioritize and communicate workload
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Lean Manufacturing experience required
