About the position

As a Senior Quality Engineer at Smiths Detection, you will be responsible for ensuring product quality on assigned programs, fulfilling customer contract requirements, and collaborating with various internal departments such as Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations. This role involves interfacing with customers and suppliers, driving quality improvements, and setting an example for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer contracts, Statements of Work, Purchase Order Quality Clauses, drawings, and specifications.
  • Review and approve quality requirements for Manufacturing Planning and Supplier Purchase Orders.
  • Participate in QMS process management.
  • Drive improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze data to develop metrics and trends.
  • Assist with establishing Root Cause of failures and defects.
  • Assist with completion of customer issued Corrective Action and follow up on Internal CAR's.
  • Utilize technical drawings, specifications, manufacturing work instructions, inspection procedures, and configuration control of documents.
  • Manage and perform audits related to ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Investigate non-conformances and apply continuous improvement techniques such as RCCA, 8D, 5-Why, PFMEA.
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day performance and tasking of team members, monitoring progress and coaching for success.
  • Make independent decisions related to quality issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Quality engineering experience in an ISO-9001 environment is required.
  • Experience in First Article Inspection (FAI) is required.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
  • Experience working in a union environment preferred.
