About the position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a Senior Quantitative Analyst or Financial Economist to join the Stress Test Retail Supervisory Modeling Team. This role involves serving as a technical subject matter expert in risk areas, contributing to stress test modeling, analyzing financial institution portfolios, and managing model risk. The position also includes evaluating banking industry trends, identifying risks to the financial system, and conducting original research for publication. The role offers strong research support and opportunities for professional training and conference attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supervisory retail loss models for the annual Stress Test exercise.
  • Manage large datasets using tools such as R, Stata, Python, and SAS.
  • Conduct analysis of consumer credit trends to identify emerging risks.
  • Collaborate on statistical and econometric projects, including data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • (Financial Economist Only) Conduct research related to bank stress testing and retail credit risk.
  • (Financial Economist Only) Maintain an independent academic research agenda and publish findings.

Requirements

  • Senior Quantitative Analyst: Bachelor's degree in a business or quantitative discipline with a minimum of five years of industry experience.
  • Financial Economist: Ph.D. in finance, economics, or a related field, with strong quantitative skills.
  • Experience with large datasets and statistical software (R, SAS, Stata, Python, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to summarize complex supervisory matters.
  • Ability to present technical issues to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in a business or quantitative discipline (for Senior Quantitative Analyst).
  • Experience in conducting original research and publishing in academic journals (for Financial Economist).
