About the position

Hitachi Energy is seeking to hire a Senior R&D Electrical Engineer for its Alamo, TN location. This role will play an important role in enhancing the performance of transformer components that meet IEEE standards, focusing on creating new products and refining the current portfolio. This position will be part of a newly created North America Regional Technology Center and report to the North America Transformer Hub Engineering team. As part of the R&D team, you will create new technologies and products for high-voltage components, manage development projects independently, and ensure that they meet the time, budget, and quality requirements. You will conduct feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products, and simulate their expected performances. Additionally, you will arrange prototyping and testing activities to verify new technologies and products, sharing your knowledge and findings from R&D with the production environment both locally and in other facilities abroad. You will also offer technical support in your domain of expertise to other departments as needed, including product management, business development, marketing and sales, and engineering. Participation in international pre-standardization and standardization work is expected, along with keeping up with the latest technology solutions, international standards, market trends, and customer requirements related to transformer high voltage fuses. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required, with a preference for Masters/PhD.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the design and development experience of IEEE HV insulation components, preferably protection equipment and high voltage fuses.
  • Proven track record as a project leader.
  • Competence in using CAD tools (e.g. Creo Pro/E), simulation tools (e.g. Ansys, COMSOL), Windchill, SAP, and MS Office.
  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, proactive, and results-focused work attitude.
  • Creative and innovative mindset.
  • Must have work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in reducing costs and using lean-six-sigma methods is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD modeling, Windchill, and SAP is desired.
