About the position

The Senior R&D Engineer position at Hitachi Energy involves working within the High Voltage Products Business Unit, specifically in the Technology Center North America. The role focuses on the development and optimization of high voltage equipment for electrical substations, particularly Instrument Transformers. The engineer will leverage their technical expertise and collaboration skills to enhance product quality and reliability while introducing innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Participate in international R&D projects aimed at introducing new products.
• Perform technology and product development assignments using advanced techniques, ensuring project specifications are met regarding quality, time, and cost.
• Provide technical support to business operations to meet customer needs effectively and timely.
• Identify and implement short and long-term solutions, ensuring timely updates of products and processes across the business network.
• Support improvements in production processes and tools, and qualify new suppliers for critical components.
• Define and maintain technical instructions to support production processes.
• Contribute to the development of strategic technology plans and project portfolios within the organization.
• Identify Intellectual Property (IP) risks and opportunities, and support IP management and protection processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a similar field.
• Work authorization to permit employment with Hitachi Energy in the United States.
• Good knowledge of CAD software and 3D modeling, preferably PTC Creo or similar.
• Experience in product development of electrical products, particularly high/medium-voltage instrument transformers is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of PLM systems, preferably PTC Windchill or similar.
• Good documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
• Strong ability to interact with cross-functional teams in an international environment.
• Proactive approach to multi-disciplinary problem solving.
