About the position

The Senior Reactor Inspector position is located in Arlington, TX, within the Region IV, Division of Operating Reactor Safety (DORS). This role involves managing the inspection planning process, reviewing inspection inputs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards for nuclear facilities. The inspector will analyze inspection results, evaluate technical adequacy, and participate in enforcement actions, contributing to the safety and regulatory oversight of nuclear operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the inspection planning process.
  • Reviews inspection planning input from relevant divisions and compares it to approved inspections.
  • Participates in periodic inspection scheduling meetings with DORS and DRSS.
  • Develops and coordinates changes to inspection planning schedules based on feedback.
  • Evaluates changes for their impact on licensee resources.
  • Ensures baseline inspections are accomplished within the planning cycle.
  • Plans and coordinates special inspection activities carried out by technical specialists.
  • Reviews reports of inspections prepared for reactor sites and analyzes results for trends.
  • Evaluates the technical adequacy of inspection coverage and procedures.
  • Prepares enforcement panel briefing materials and participates in panels and conferences.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GG-13 level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear engineering principles and practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in relevant disciplines.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance in nuclear safety.
