About the position

As a Senior Refrigeration Service Technician at Hillphoenix Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of commercial refrigeration systems across various establishments, including supermarkets, convenience stores, and foodservice locations. Your primary responsibilities will include diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining these systems, which are vital for preserving food safety and quality. You will be expected to respond promptly to customer needs as communicated by dispatchers, leads, and managers, demonstrating your advanced knowledge in troubleshooting and performing work on rack systems and self-contained cases, as well as HVAC units and VFD operations. In this role, you will be responsible for returning all equipment to proper operating specifications and effectively communicating any follow-ups with dispatch, leads, and management. Your willingness to participate in an emergency on-call rotation, which may include holidays, nights, and weekends, is essential. Adhering to Hill PHOENIX's safety program, policies, and procedures is a critical aspect of your job, as is maintaining effective communication with customers, fellow technicians, and service staff. You will also be tasked with completing all necessary paperwork in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to customer documentation procedures, and maintaining truck stock inventory at appropriate levels. Additionally, you may be assigned other duties and responsibilities by management as needed. This position requires a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as a commitment to high standards in quality of work, customer response, safety, financial performance, and team morale.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and foodservice establishments.
  • Respond to customer needs as communicated by dispatchers, leads, and managers.
  • Troubleshoot and perform work on rack systems and self-contained cases, including all sizes of HVAC units and VFD operations.
  • Return all equipment to proper operating specifications.
  • Communicate any follow-ups with dispatch, leads, and management.
  • Participate in the emergency on-call rotation, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Adhere to Hill PHOENIX safety program, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, other technicians, and service staff.
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner and adhere to customer documentation procedures.
  • Maintain all packing slips and turn them in with paperwork daily.
  • Maintain truck stock inventory to proper levels.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of HVAC, supermarket refrigeration, and EMS systems.
  • EPA Certification, EPA 608 minimum types I and II or Universal Tech Certification.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively; Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Strong customer service skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to utilize computer software for management of work orders, schedules, and Excel.
  • Full knowledge of supermarket refrigeration, including energy management systems.
  • Complete set of hand tools required for the job.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and train lower-level technicians.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with very little supervision.
