About the position

The Senior Regulatory Policy Advisor to the Commissioner plays a crucial role in overseeing regulatory policy matters within the Division of Insurance. This position involves developing substantive regulatory policy recommendations across various insurance regulatory areas, ensuring compliance with state laws, and collaborating with senior staff and external stakeholders to address emerging regulatory issues.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary regulatory policy advisor to the Commissioner of Insurance on a wide spectrum of regulatory policy matters.
• Make recommendations on the development of state, regional, and national policy in the regulatory realm.
• Advise on areas of critical need based on ongoing review of emerging market conditions.
• Work with senior staff and government stakeholders to identify and review emerging regulatory policy issues.
• Propose new or amend existing regulatory policy to the Commissioner as appropriate.
• Collaborate with professional organizations to achieve consistency and fairness in regulatory treatment.

Requirements

• At least six (6) years of professional experience in business administration, public administration, or related fields.
• At least two (2) years of experience in a project management, supervisory, or managerial capacity.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory landscapes and insurance law and policy.
• Experience dealing with senior agency staff and high-level government officials.
