About the position

The Senior Relationship Manager at UAF is a key role within the Advancement Team, responsible for expanding the university's individual donor base and fostering relationships with businesses, corporations, and foundations. This position involves soliciting major gifts and planned gifts to support campus priorities, while also building and maintaining strong relationships with alumni, benefactors, students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can handle confidential information discreetly and interact professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Grow UAF's individual donor base.
  • Foster relationships with businesses, corporations, and foundations.
  • Solicit major gifts ($25,000+) and planned gifts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including alumni, benefactors, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Analyze and implement strategies to increase giving from new and current donors.
  • Manage donor needs and develop gift conversations.
  • Travel within Alaska and to the lower 48 states to develop donor relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business, public administration or relevant field.
  • Four years of experience in relationship building and/or public relations.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in fundraising or similar activity.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer technology and ability to research complex giving policies.
