About the position

The Senior Reliability Engineer, Electrical Systems at Form Energy is responsible for enhancing the reliability and lifespan of iron-air battery enclosures and systems. This role involves close collaboration with the Systems Engineering team to develop test plans, analyze data, and perform failure analysis, ensuring that electrical power systems meet critical design requirements. The position requires hands-on laboratory work and cross-functional collaboration to address design-for-reliability challenges and improve product longevity.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject matter expert on design for reliability best practices for electrical systems and their subcomponents.
  • Partner with design owners to de-risk and down-select enclosure and system design concepts, translating product requirements into functional reliability and lifetime requirements.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to evaluate failure mechanisms and their acceleration factors, including hands-on testing and failure analysis.
  • Engage with external vendors to drive and monitor reliability and lifetime testing of electromechanical components.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience testing electrical systems and components such as PCBs, bus bars, terminals, connectors, and wiring harnesses.
  • Familiarity with developing accelerated lifetime tests to assess component reliability across various operating conditions.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills within a team and with remote members.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical power systems, including high voltage (>400 V) or high power (>10 kW) is preferred.
