About the position

The Senior Reliability Engineer at Freeport-McMoRan plays a crucial role in enhancing equipment reliability and maintenance strategies within the Miami smelter and rod plant. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary maintenance team to develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance practices, ensuring continuous production and minimizing equipment failures. The engineer will lead root cause analyses, research new reliability processes, and establish key performance indicators to improve overall operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work with a multidisciplinary maintenance team to develop overall strategy and plans for the department.
• Provide expertise and guidance for predictive and preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, and condition monitoring.
• Identify system constraints and pursue their elimination through continuous improvement.
• Ensure uninterrupted production by reducing equipment failures and developing maintenance methods to improve efficiency.
• Lead root cause analysis of equipment failures and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Research new reliability processes and methods to predict and improve reliability.
• Perform onsite evaluations of existing processes and equipment, setting expectations for precision maintenance.
• Review and establish Key Performance Indices for equipment.
• Identify PM opportunities and maintenance plans through failure mode and effect analysis.
• Analyze CMMS data for equipment health indicators and develop reports to measure them.
• Provide safety perspectives for equipment and processes, recommending engineering solutions to eliminate hazards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and five (5) years related experience in Engineering, OR a Master's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in Engineering.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to express ideas clearly.
• Customer-focused approach to improve equipment and process reliability.
• Knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices.
• Experience with engineering design drawings and schematics.
• Self-starter with solid integrity and understanding of safety, legality, and quality.
