About the position

The Senior Research Administrator will manage pre-award and post-award activities, providing comprehensive research administration oversight for the Department of Neuroscience. This role involves budgeting, personnel management, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, while also serving as a liaison between various stakeholders in research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the department’s research administration and suggests improvements.
  • Prepares, monitors, analyzes, manages, and reports research division budgets.
  • Supervises and trains others in the submission of grant and contract proposals.
  • May oversee the submission and post-award activities of research or clinical trial studies.
  • Supervises payroll functions and implements tracking systems.
  • Supervises purchasing functions to ensure maximum utilization of funds.
  • Prepares and manages the annual salary planning process.
  • Communicates and administers policies and procedures to faculty and staff.
  • Monitors compliance with internal and external policies in research conduct.
  • Maintains personnel records and oversees employee scheduling and evaluations.
  • Reviews job applications and conducts interviews for new personnel.
  • Reviews non-academic appointments for job descriptions and salaries.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Implements procedures for efficient workflow and staff training.
  • Maintains professional public relations and handles complaints efficiently.
  • Serves as a liaison for research activities between various entities.
  • Completes special projects as directed by senior leadership.
  • Organizes and attends meetings and conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7 years of experience in accounting.
  • 3 years of experience in grants administration.
