About the position

LMI is seeking a Senior Research Analyst for on-site work in the National Capital Region. This position is part of the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering's Rapid Defense Experimentation Reserve (RDER) initiative, which focuses on accelerating technologies through the development pipeline from prototypes to validated military capabilities. The RDER initiative is responsible for verifying the production readiness and operational utility of prototypes and recommending the most promising technologies for production. This role requires an Active Top Secret or TS clearance with SCI eligibility, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work involved. As a Senior Research Analyst, you will be integral to supporting Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) risk-to-transition analyses for RDER projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong research skills, knowing how and where to acquire information about Department of Defense (DoD) technologies, training, experiments, organizations, and doctrine. You will also need to demonstrate strong analytical abilities, enabling you to identify trends and draw conclusions from data effectively. The role involves preparing finished analytical products, including briefings and technical reports, which are crucial for decision-making processes. Additionally, the position may require travel to and/or work from various government facilities in the National Capital Region, such as the Pentagon and Mark Center. Some travel outside the National Capital Region may also be necessary to attend events and interview stakeholders. This position is designed for individuals who are self-motivated, organized, and willing to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to the mission of enhancing operational readiness and resiliency for federal civilian and defense agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Support Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) risk-to-transition analyses for RDER projects.
  • Conduct thorough research on DoD technologies, training, experiments, and organizations.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and draw conclusions.
  • Prepare finished analytical products, including briefings and technical reports.
  • Travel to and/or work from government facilities in the National Capital Region as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a field that requires research and writing.
  • 10-15 years of experience leading and conducting research and analysis of written materials and through interviews.
  • Demonstrable advanced research, critical thinking, analysis, and writing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and willing to work as part of a team.
  • Active Top Secret or TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
