About the position

The Senior Research Analyst role at Newmark is a pivotal position that involves close collaboration with the research team to support brokers with their research needs. This role is essential for producing both recurring and custom research content, as well as managing data collection and database management. The position primarily focuses on the Greater Philadelphia region, which includes Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs, Southern New Jersey, Delaware, and the I-81 Corridor. The ideal candidate will be based in Newmark's Center City Philadelphia office, with occasional travel to the newly opened King of Prussia office. In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Senior Research Analyst will contribute to a growing research platform that covers all asset types. Responsibilities include maintaining data integrity and analyzing proprietary and third-party resources to create market-leading insights and client deliverables. The analyst will participate in establishing procedures for acquiring and managing real estate market data, supporting presentations, pitches, and whitepapers with original analysis and creative insights. A thorough understanding of all research-related data sources, including tax record information, ownership and lender information, and occupier databases, is crucial. The role also involves evaluating new resources and existing products, tracking and analyzing data in support of global, regional, and local research initiatives, and promoting the research function and its capabilities to brokers and sales staff. This includes conducting training sessions on new resources. Additionally, the Senior Research Analyst will mentor, train, and coach junior research staff members, ensuring a collaborative and supportive team environment. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the research team to assist brokers on research needs.
  • Produce recurring and custom research content.
  • Manage data collection and database management.
  • Maintain data integrity and analyze proprietary and third-party resources to create market-leading insights and client deliverables.
  • Establish procedures for acquiring and managing real estate market data.
  • Support presentations, pitches, and whitepapers with original analysis and creative insights.
  • Understand all research-related data sources including tax record information, ownership and lender information, and occupier databases.
  • Evaluate new resources and existing products.
  • Track and analyze data in support of global, regional, and local research initiatives.
  • Promote the research function and its capabilities to brokers and sales staff, including training on new resources.
  • Mentor, train, and coach junior research staff members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Real Estate, Finance, Urban Planning, or Business Administration.
  • 4+ years of relevant working experience.
  • Ability to identify trends and create reports.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to digest complex data or concepts into understandable, concise content.
  • Experience with data entry and database management.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint; proficiency in other MS Office programs.
  • Demonstrated client interaction experience.
  • Experience with CoStar, Real Capital Analytics, Axiometrics, Trepp, EQ, and REIS is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of commercial real estate research is a plus.
  • Experience with PowerBI and/or Python is a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with CoStar, Real Capital Analytics, Axiometrics, Trepp, EQ, and REIS.
  • Working knowledge of commercial real estate research.
