About the position

The Senior Research Analyst at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) plays a crucial role in supporting the institution's strategic decision-making through data analysis and research. This position involves leading and contributing to various research and assessment projects that enhance educational offerings and operations, while fulfilling reporting responsibilities. The analyst will work closely with the Learning, Teaching, and Assessment (LTA) team, as well as other stakeholders, to ensure evidence-based practices are implemented across the School.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of strategic analytics and assessment projects from conception to completion.
  • Develop project timelines, delegation plans, and internal documentation to ensure project completion.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with School leadership, faculty, and staff.
  • Develop, disseminate, and present products including visualizations, written reports, and dashboards to stakeholders.
  • Advise colleagues on best practices in study design, instrument development, and data security practices.
  • Stay current on peer-reviewed literature related to institutional research and share insights with the LTA team.
  • Oversee student workers or other contributors to LTA projects.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in independently leading, designing, and executing research projects, preferably in education.
  • Experience analyzing quantitative and/or qualitative data.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language or statistical software package (preferably R).
  • Experience with reporting, generating visualizations, and communications/presentations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with all levels of a large organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and use data for planning purposes.
  • Experience with focus groups, interviewing, text analysis, and other qualitative methods.
  • Experience with SQL and working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.
