About the position

The Senior Research Analyst at Dartmouth College will support biomedical and clinical research by performing data wrangling, statistical analyses, and manuscript preparation. This role involves collaborating with researchers to assist in study design and providing statistical support, while working under the supervision of Dr. Todd MacKenzie. The position requires a hybrid work model, with in-person attendance expected 1-2 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Wrangle data using R, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Conduct exploratory analyses and data visualizations to identify discrepant data.
  • Utilize statistical models such as linear regression, logistic regression, and Cox regression for time-to-event data.
  • Employ machine learning algorithms like random forests and penalized models for predictions.
  • Draft statistical methods sections for abstracts and manuscripts, advising on results sections as well.
  • Maintain status lists of active and completed projects, ensuring attention to deadlines and priorities.
  • Staff a Biostatistics Walk-In clinic for direct consultation.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in statistics or a closely related field with 2-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently on statistical analyses.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to execute prescribed statistical analysis plans.
  • Ability to summarize findings from statistical analyses in writing and verbally.
  • Effective communication skills with researchers seeking statistical support.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD or master's degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience collaborating as a statistician within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in statistical analyses within biomedical research or clinical trials.
