About the position

The Senior Research Analyst supports the Public Policy department by conducting research on actuarially focused public policy issues. This role involves preparing various written communications, managing research projects, and building relationships with external stakeholders under the guidance of the Director of Research.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Research in coordinating and facilitating research projects.
  • Develop and support a targeted research agenda through in-house and external collaborations.
  • Provide project management for all research projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Produce high-quality data-driven or qualitative research reports and publications.
  • Work with Academy staff to develop potential research ideas.
  • Maintain adherence to public policy research project selection criteria and guidelines.
  • Maintain the Research Committee membership list and prepare materials for meetings.
  • Support the production of objective analyses on public policy issues.
  • Conduct background research and literature reviews on proposed projects.
  • Extract, collect, and aggregate data from various sources while ensuring data quality.
  • Analyze relevant data using statistical techniques and aid in drafting written products.
  • Draft and edit research reports, memos, and policy briefs.
  • Collaborate with staff to manage Academy review processes and develop multimedia presentations.
  • Present work at actuarial and non-actuarial research meetings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with research staff at other organizations and policymaking entities.

Requirements

  • Training in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience with applied statistical analysis, preferably with SAS or R.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and project management tools like Asana.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated time and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with policy issues in the financial services sector is desirable.
  • Familiarity with public policy issues related to economics, finance, or insurance.

  • Experience in developing and maintaining a network of researchers and consultants.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $73,000-$105,000
  • Exempt FLSA classification
