The Senior Research Associate 3 (Molecular Biology Specialist) at the University of Miami plays a pivotal role in conducting highly specialized and complex research that aligns with the division's research goals and objectives. This position is responsible for the successful operations of the laboratory, ensuring that all research activities are conducted in accordance with established protocols and good research practices. The incumbent will supervise the activities of all laboratory staff and users, serving as a subject matter expert and mentor to less experienced staff members. In this role, the Senior Research Associate will contribute to both basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data, interpreting research protocols, and maintaining an overview of relevant research findings. The individual will design, evaluate, and implement methods and protocols for assigned research projects, and will also recommend the purchase of new equipment necessary for these projects. Additionally, the Senior Research Associate will be responsible for writing scientific articles and manuscripts for publication and presentation, ensuring that all research is documented and disseminated appropriately. Safety is a critical aspect of this position, as the Senior Research Associate will oversee and ensure the safe handling of radioactive and hazardous materials within the laboratory. The preparation of analytical reports relative to research data is also a key responsibility, along with adherence to University and unit-level policies and procedures to safeguard University assets. This position is dynamic and may include additional duties or responsibilities as necessary, reflecting the evolving nature of research in the field.
