About the position

As a Senior Research Associate in Biological Modeling at Tempus, you will play a pivotal role in advancing precision medicine and transforming clinical outcomes through innovative research. Our proprietary platform leverages real-world evidence to provide actionable insights to physicians, ensuring that patients receive the most effective treatments at the right time. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to developing physiologically relevant 3D cancer models that closely mimic the architecture of patient tumors. This position involves generating and characterizing patient-derived organoids and tissue models, which are crucial for drug discovery and the development of novel treatment strategies. In this role, you will work collaboratively with a team of passionate scientists and research technicians to culture and maintain cell lines and organoids, as well as handle human tissue specimens. You will perform routine testing and cell culture procedures, conduct advanced cell and molecular biology assays according to established laboratory protocols, and assist with assay development and procedure optimization. Keeping accurate data records and performing data analysis for routine testing will also be part of your responsibilities. Your contributions will be essential in evaluating therapeutic responses using advanced ex vivo cancer models and characterizing molecular features associated with treatment outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Generate and characterize patient-derived organoids and tissue models.
  • Culture and maintain cell lines and organoids, handle human tissue specimens.
  • Perform routine testing and cell culture procedures.
  • Conduct advanced cell and molecular biology assays according to standard laboratory protocols.
  • Assist with assay development and procedure optimization.
  • Keep data records and perform data analysis for routine testing as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS in biological sciences or relevant field with 5+ years of bench work experience or MS with 3+ years of bench work experience in laboratory settings.
  • Experience with cell culture techniques and cell and molecular biology assays.
  • Ability to independently conduct experimental procedures according to specified protocols and within the assigned workflows.
  • Ability to precisely follow standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex workflows and procedures.
  • Rigorous attention to detail.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to coordinate with other team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in handling mouse or human tissue.
  • Experience with primary cells and organoid culture.
  • Experience with co-culture models: Immuno Oncology is a plus.
  • Experience working in a CLIA/CAP laboratory.
  • Experience working in industry is a plus.
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with ELISA, IF staining and imaging, FACS.
