About the position

The Senior Research Informatics Analyst plays a crucial role in providing expertise and coordination for data analysis and interpretation at the Essentia Institute of Rural Health. This position is responsible for building and maintaining complex research databases, including a Virtual Data Warehouse, which supports and enhances the research activities of the EIRH. The analyst will create and develop essential research project data sets, reports, and deliverables, ensuring the availability and timely dissemination of accurate information to support various research projects. In this role, the analyst will plan and design data extraction methodologies and data layouts, performing comprehensive data analysis and interpretation. The position also involves building external partnerships, identifying and incorporating new data sources, and guiding research informatics team members to achieve project goals effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in programming and data management, particularly with tools such as Python, R, and SAS, and will be familiar with Clinical Research Data Management and the Epic data model (Clarity and Caboodle). This is a remote, work-from-home position, allowing for flexibility while contributing to impactful research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and coordination for data analysis and interpretation for the Essentia Institute of Rural Health.
  • Build and maintain complex research databases, including a Virtual Data Warehouse.
  • Create and develop essential research project data sets, reports, and deliverables.
  • Ensure availability and timely dissemination of accurate information in support of research projects.
  • Plan and design data extraction methodology and data layouts.
  • Perform data analysis and interpretation.
  • Build external partnerships and identify new data sources.
  • Guide research informatics team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent field of study with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Computer Programming or Systems Analysis position, including documented experience creating SQL queries or documented SAS experience in a research environment.
  • OR an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent field of study with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Computer Programming or Systems Analysis position, including documented experience creating SQL queries or documented SAS experience. Experience in a research environment preferred.
  • OR a minimum of 9 years of experience in a Computer Programming or Systems Analysis position, including documented experience creating SQL queries or documented SAS experience. Experience in a research environment preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Python, R, and SAS (Enterprise Guide or similar) is strongly desired.
  • Experience with Clinical Research Data Management and Clinical Data Analysis is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Epic data model (Clarity and Caboodle) is a plus.
