About the position
The Senior Research Technician at CertainTeed plays a crucial role in supporting the R&D team by performing advanced technical functions related to testing and analyzing materials for gypsum boards and finishing products. This position involves hands-on experimental work, project management, and collaboration with engineers and scientists to ensure product quality and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Supports engineers and scientists in R&D team with their projects.
- Executes and/or supports commercial and manufacturing support requests.
- Manages and documents projects by creating concise and technically accurate summary reports effectively with supervision.
- Conducts hands-on experimental work and ensures all products are tested and approved according to the company SOP.
- Performs research and a variety of experiments, makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results.
- Identifies opportunities that could impact sustainability with innovative solutions and works with R&D, operations, and technical teams to develop and deploy.
- Understands/learns material properties which are critical to quality attributes.
- Plays an active role in lab management: safety aspects, equipment maintenance, 5S, lab audit preparation and action follow-up, lab postings, regular equipment checks etc.
- Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.
Requirements
- Associate degree in an engineering, technical, or science-related field, or demonstrated equivalent with 4-7 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Lab/plant experience preferred.
