About the position

The Senior Researcher - Equities at Mercer is a pivotal role within the Manager Research Practice, focusing on long-only equity research. This position involves synthesizing research insights to articulate investment strategies that are expected to outperform benchmarks over market cycles. The role emphasizes collaboration with a global team, interaction with asset managers, and support for investment consultants, all aimed at delivering value to clients through informed equity investment strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively lead interviews with portfolio management teams and business leaders.
  • Gather and analyze information to identify and communicate asset managers likely to generate value for clients.
  • Provide insights and advice on global equity investment strategies to clients and consultants.
  • Present Mercer's views on effective equity exposures and manager selection to enhance client return/risk profiles.
  • Extend Mercer's thought leadership by presenting at internal and external conferences.
  • Mentor and support the broader equity research team where applicable.
  • Contribute to post-meeting discussions on key issues and recommended manager ratings.
  • Assist in preparing for direct client discussions on managers and strategies.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in finance, economics, or other business-related areas with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • 7-10 years of fund research/manager due diligence experience.
  • Intellectual curiosity, tenacity, and willingness to take on new opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA and/or CFA certification.
  • General knowledge of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) investing.
