About the position

The Senior Researcher - Equities at Mercer will be part of a global team focused on long-only equity research. This role involves synthesizing research insights to articulate why certain investment strategies are expected to outperform benchmarks, collaborating with asset managers, and supporting investment consultants. The position offers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth within a dynamic and inclusive work culture.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively lead interviews with portfolio management teams and business leaders.
  • Gather and analyze information to identify and communicate asset managers likely to generate value for clients.
  • Provide insights and advice on global equity investment strategies to clients and consultants.
  • Present Mercer's views on building effective exposures to equity structures and enhancing client return/risk profiles.
  • Extend Mercer's thought leadership by presenting at internal and external conferences.
  • Mentor and support the broader equity research team where applicable.
  • Contribute to post-meeting discussions covering key issues and recommended manager ratings.
  • Provide ad hoc support to consultants in preparing for research meetings.
  • Assist in preparation for direct client discussions on managers and strategies.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in finance, economics, or other business-related areas with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • 7-10 years of fund research/manager due diligence experience.
  • Intellectual curiosity and tenacity with a willingness to take on new opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA and/or CFA certification.
  • General knowledge of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) investing.
