About the position

As a Senior Resident Field Service Technician at ABB, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plant systems within the Process Automation Energy Industries Service division. This position is primarily onsite, where you will be responsible for providing comprehensive site services utilizing the ABB 800xA Distributed Control Systems. Your expertise will be essential in performing all periodic, routine, and preventive maintenance, as well as providing shutdown support. You will also troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues related to the distributed control systems, managing technical support requests to optimize system performance. Effective communication with all site stakeholders is vital to ensure that all contracted services meet or exceed expectations. Additionally, you will support projects involving hardware and software upgrades, system modifications, and additions, both online and offline. You will join a dynamic and high-performing team that values collaboration and innovation. Responsibilities

  • Provide site service to ensure safe and efficient plant operation utilizing the ABB 800xA Distributed Control Systems.
  • Handle all periodic, routine, preventive maintenance and shutdown support as part of your role.
  • Troubleshoot high complexity to medium complexity tasks associated with the distributed control system hardware and software issues.
  • Manage technical support requests on the customer's behalf to optimize system performance.
  • Effectively communicate with all site stakeholders to ensure all contracted services meet or exceed expectations.
  • Support projects for hardware and software upgrades, system modifications, and additions, both online and offline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or Automation & Control, or comparable military technical training.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in process automation.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft, networking, cyber security, and ABB 800xA Distributed Control Systems.
  • Extensive process automation work experience with an understanding of systems maintenance, configuration, and process control.
  • Fluent in English and possess a legal driver's license.
