About the position

The Senior Revenue Recognition Analyst at Western Digital will be responsible for overseeing revenue accounting activities, including the review and assessment of revenue contracts, analysis of revenue transactions, and support for internal and external audits. This role requires a highly motivated accounting professional with experience in global revenue operations, who will collaborate with various business functions to drive process improvements and ensure compliance with ASC 606 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess sales contracts, PO terms and conditions for revenue recognition implications under ASC 606.
  • Perform technical research and analysis for significant revenue arrangements and write technical memos supporting the accounting position.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Sales Ops, BU Finance, Product Management, Legal, and Field Application Engineering to analyze revenue recognition issues and advise on revenue treatment.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly revenue close tasks, including validating product return reserves and preparing deferral revenue reconciliations.
  • Establish and maintain ASC 606 revenue recognition policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Collaborate with other business units to perform quarterly revenue analytics.
  • Design, implement, and maintain effective accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Maintain SOX control compliance for revenue-related controls.
  • Coordinate audit requests for internal management and external audits.
  • Lead or assist with ad-hoc projects and drive them to successful completion.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of combined experience in Big 4 audit and corporate revenue accounting in the technology industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance.
  • ASC 606 revenue recognition experience required.
  • Strong verbal and writing communication skills, including technical memo writing.
  • Analytical skills and proficiency in SAP and Oracle Cloud.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint; proficiency in Power BI preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
