About the position

Join the Ansys Customer Excellence team as a Senior RF/Antenna Application Engineer, where you will partner with our customers to engineer what's ahead and solve their real-world engineering problems. In this role, you will deploy Ansys software in their design workflows and contribute to the growth of Ansys' business. As a hands-on subject matter expert, you will leverage your expert-level engineering knowledge to provide technical pre-sales support, perform professional services, and translate customer requirements into innovative product features. You will work within multi-disciplinary teams to create pervasive simulation solutions, advance your industry knowledge, and enhance the business impact of our solutions. Your responsibilities will include leading and coordinating all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, which encompasses technical discovery, negotiating technical success criteria, and conducting product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations. You will interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering workflows, analyzing how to address their requirements using Ansys products and platforms while articulating Ansys' value proposition. Additionally, you will assist in creating differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and products, deploying these solutions within customers' design workflows. As you develop competence as a subject matter expert and industry expert, you will collaborate with Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into exciting new product features. This includes testing new releases of Ansys products on industrial problems and developing application best practices. You will also support Ansys field and digital marketing efforts, author conference presentations, and contribute to consulting services by conducting introductory and intermediate training classes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, negotiate technical success criteria, product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations.
  • Work independently within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows; analyze how to address customers' requirements using Ansys products and platform, articulate Ansys' value proposition.
  • Assist in creating differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and products; deploy the solutions within customers' design workflows.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0.
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages.
  • Experience with antenna applications or RF component design; and coupled RF-thermal simulations.
  • Design knowledge of antennas, RF components, matching networks, and installed antenna performance.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and previous usage of ANSYS HFSS, ANSYS SIwave, ANSYS Q3D Extractor or other simulation software involving real world, industry level applications.
  • Knowledgeable with package, printed circuit boards and connector design processes and EDA Tools.
  • Fundamental knowledge of high frequency, microwave and antenna concepts including S-parameters, wave propagation, antenna radiation patterns, scattering analysis, and component coupling/interference analysis.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency.
  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of time.
  • DoD TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required (or the ability and willingness to obtain them).

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3.
  • 2 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles using engineering software.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
