About the position

The Senior RF/Antenna Application Engineer will join the Ansys Customer Excellence team to provide technical pre-sales support and professional services, focusing on RF and antenna applications. This role involves collaborating with customers to understand their engineering design workflows, deploying Ansys software solutions, and contributing to product development by translating customer requirements into new features. The engineer will work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams to create innovative simulation solutions and support Ansys' business growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle.
• Interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows.
• Assist in creating differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and products.
• Develop competence as a subject matter expert and industry expert.
• Collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product features.
• Support Ansys field and digital marketing, author conference presentations.
• Contribute to consulting services, conduct introductory and/or intermediate training classes.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum years of professional experience: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0.
• Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages.
• Experience with antenna applications or RF component design; and coupled RF-thermal simulations.
• Design knowledge of antennas, RF components, matching networks, and installed antenna performance.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of ANSYS HFSS, ANSYS SIwave, ANSYS Q3D Extractor or other simulation software.
• Knowledgeable with package, printed circuit boards and connector design processes and EDA Tools.
• Fundamental knowledge of high frequency, microwave and antenna concepts including S-parameters, wave propagation, antenna radiation patterns, scattering analysis, and component coupling/interference analysis.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of time.
• DoD TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required (or the ability and willingness to obtain them).

Nice-to-haves

• Preferred education: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3.
• 2 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles using engineering software.
• Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
