About the position

The Senior RF/Antenna Application Engineer at Ansys will play a crucial role in partnering with customers to address their engineering challenges by deploying Ansys software into their design workflows. This position involves providing technical pre-sales support, performing professional services, and translating customer requirements into innovative product features. The engineer will leverage their expertise in RF and antenna design to support customers both on-site and remotely, particularly in the Washington, D.C. area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, negotiate technical success criteria, product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations.
  • Work independently within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows; analyze how to address customers' requirements using Ansys products and platform, articulate Ansys' value proposition.
  • Assist in creating differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and products; deploy the solutions within customers' design workflows.
  • Develop competence as a subject matter expert and industry expert.
  • Collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into exciting new product features; test new releases of Ansys products on industrial problems, develop application best practices.
  • Support Ansys field and digital marketing, author conference presentations.
  • Contribute to consulting services, conduct introductory and/or intermediate training classes.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum years of professional experience: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0.
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages.
  • Experience with antenna applications or RF component design; and coupled RF-thermal simulations.
  • Design knowledge of antennas, RF components, matching networks, and installed antenna performance.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and previous usage of ANSYS HFSS, ANSYS SIwave, ANSYS Q3D Extractor or other simulation software involving real world, industry level applications.
  • Knowledgeable with package, printed circuit boards and connector design processes and EDA Tools.
  • Fundamental knowledge of high frequency, microwave and antenna concepts including S-parameters, wave propagation, antenna radiation patterns, scattering analysis, and component coupling/interference analysis.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of time.
  • DoD TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required (or the ability and willingness to obtain them).

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred education: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3.
  • 2 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles using engineering software.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
