About the position

The Senior RF Electrical Engineer at Collins Aerospace will be responsible for designing and testing RF and Microwave electronic hardware for satellite communication and RADAR systems. This role involves working on complex technical problems, utilizing RF simulation tools, and ensuring designs meet rigorous military requirements. The engineer will work independently or in small teams to develop, simulate, document, and test RF/Microwave circuit designs up to 50 GHz, contributing to the mission assurance and product producibility of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations and solutions to a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity
  • Perform design tasks using RF simulation tools
  • Develop, simulate, document, support, debug, and test various types of RF/Microwave circuit level / board level designs up to 50 GHz with first pass success
  • Conduct technical & cost trade studies, and product selection for commercially available components
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required

Requirements

  • Experience in simulating microwave circuits (including component & PWB parasitics)
  • Ability to design, simulate, and test RF circuits up to 50 GHz using simulation tools
  • Experience with RF/Microwave building blocks such as Amplifiers, A/D, D/A, DDS, Filters, Mixers, etc.
  • Complete understanding of RF/Microwave concepts & terminology including dB, Gain, Noise Figure, VSWR, etc.
  • Experience using RF/Microwave test equipment such as Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, etc.
  • Typically requires a degree in STEM and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years of experience or 9 years of relevant experience without a degree
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) techniques
  • Familiarity with Keysight Advance Design System (ADS) and Computer Simulation Technology (CST)
