About the position

The Senior Risk Examiner position at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) involves conducting and directing examinations of insured depository institutions to assess their financial condition, management effectiveness, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires extensive travel and offers opportunities for mentoring and training less experienced examiners.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts, supervises, and directs examinations of insured depository institutions.
  • Meets with institution officials and boards of directors to discuss examination findings and corrective programs.
  • Prepares and submits reports of examination and other written materials.
  • Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of Financial Institution Specialists and other examiners.
  • Serves as a coach and mentor to less tenured and non-commissioned examiners.
  • Provides feedback on the performance of personnel assigned to examinations.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/CG 12 grade level or above in the Federal service.
  • Experience performing examinations of insured depository institutions and evaluating safety, soundness, and risk.
  • Must be a commissioned examiner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial analysis and risk assessment.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate the work of others.
