About the position

As a Senior Sales Compensation Analyst at Medidata, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the sales compensation strategy and ensuring the effectiveness of compensation plans across the organization. This position is part of the Sales Compensation Team under the Peoples Team, where you will work closely with the Sales Compensation Director, HR associates, and various departments including Sales Operations, Sales, and IT. Your expertise will be crucial in managing the sales compensation management system, ensuring quality control, and driving transparency in compensation processes. Your responsibilities will include creating, validating, and executing semi-annual compensation plan documentation for the sales organization. You will manage the accuracy and distribution of monthly and quarterly sales compensation payments and statements, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed. This role requires you to interact with sales representatives and leadership to understand their compensation-related issues and provide actionable recommendations to enhance the sales compensation process and strategy. In addition to your analytical and technical skills, you will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal abilities, as you will be required to communicate observations and best practices around sales compensation through data and analytics. Your role will also involve providing guidance and education to the sales organization regarding compensation policies and procedures, ensuring that all team members are well-informed and compliant with the established guidelines. You will need to manage relationships at senior and executive levels within HR and the broader management team, effectively communicating complex operational or process-related subjects in a relatable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Create, validate, and execute the semi-annual compensation plan documentation for the sales organization.
  • Manage accuracy and distribution of monthly and quarterly sales compensation payments and statements.
  • Drive alignment amongst cross-functional stakeholders and project manage assignment of sales compensation calculation inputs.
  • Collaborate with Sales Compensation Director to help define the sales compensation business model in support of optimizing associated technologies, policies, processes, and tools.
  • Interact with sales reps and leadership to better understand sales compensation issues and provide recommendations to help improve the sales compensation process and strategy.
  • Communicate observations around sales compensation best practices through data, analytics, and thoughtful interpretation of findings.
  • Provide guidance and education to the sales organization around sales compensation policies and procedures.
  • Manage relationships at senior and executive levels within HR and the broader management levels.
  • Utilize excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills to convey operational or process-related subject matter.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field required.
  • 3 or more years of experience required.
  • Strong proficiency in using Varicent and Salesforce required.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities required.
  • Quality control, analytical, technical, and collaboration skills are essential.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully communicate with individuals at various levels and across different functions within the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a dynamic setting while maintaining accuracy and delivering against deadlines.
