About the position

The Senior Sales Engineer role is a pivotal position within our organization, responsible for designing and managing smaller projects while serving as a technical resource for customer account development. This role requires a blend of engineering expertise, estimating, and project management skills to perform design-build and other engineering-centric services. The candidate will work under the guidance of Professional Engineers and will have the opportunity to pursue professional licensure, enhancing their career trajectory. This position directly supports the engineering and project management needs for our Philadelphia Division, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and effectively. In this role, the Senior Sales Engineer will serve as a technical resource throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to closeout. This includes developing, proposing, designing, and managing assigned projects. The engineer will proactively resolve issues and provide necessary information and advice to stakeholders. Building strong client relationships is essential, as the engineer will be responsible for providing project status updates to clients and management, as well as participating in project meetings with internal departments. The Senior Sales Engineer will also be tasked with developing budget analysis reports, cost and revenue projections, change orders, and other necessary documentation for assigned projects. This role involves performing complex calculations related to heating and cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, and friction loss calculations. Additionally, the engineer will prepare preliminary redline design layouts for estimating and work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource in project development, proposing, designing, and managing assigned projects from inception to closeout.
  • Proactively resolve issues and provide information and advice as needed.
  • Develop client relationships by providing project status updates to clients and management.
  • Participate in project meetings with internal departments.
  • Develop budget analysis reports, cost and revenue projections, change orders, and other reports as necessary for assigned projects.
  • Perform complex calculations for projects, including heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, and friction loss calculations.
  • Prepare preliminary redline design layouts for estimating.
  • Ensure code compliance by working with applicable internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Engineering
  • Proven effective project management and estimating experience
  • Solid financial acumen, including project budgets and analysis and revenue projections
  • Practical understanding of mechanical system design, including load calculations, equipment selections, airflow, hydronics, and steam systems
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers, field staff, and management
  • Solid project management skills
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to write clear and concise proposals
  • Solid MS Office Suite experience, including Excel
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Revit and AutoCAD.
