About the position

Eaton's North American Sales division is currently seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to join our team in Mountainside, NJ. This position is pivotal in focusing on Electrical distribution commercial sales, working closely with a well-established distribution team to grow the assigned contractors. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated sales professional looking for career advancement opportunities. Relocation assistance is available for candidates who reside outside of a 50-mile radius of the location. In this role, you will build relationships with key customers and channel partners to enhance long-term business prospects. You will execute sales plans to meet performance expectations, review and interpret customer needs, and prepare and present bids and quotations. Collaboration with product lines, operations, and other internal stakeholders will be essential to provide customer-centric solutions. You will also need to stay informed about market conditions and competitive activities, assisting teammates in training channels on Eaton products and electronic tools. Your ability to collect, analyze, and utilize market intelligence will drive data-based decisions, ensuring accurate and timely planning and technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with key customers and channel partners to enhance long-term business prospects
  • Execute sales plans to meet performance expectations and requirements
  • Review and interpret customer needs on plans and specifications
  • Prepare and present bids and quotations to customers using company price and delivery guidelines
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product lines, operations, and other internal stakeholders to provide customer-centric solutions
  • Be aware of and responsive to market conditions and competitive activities while communicating such information to product divisions
  • Assist teammates in training Channel on Eaton Products and Electronic Tools
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize market intelligence regarding competitive products, customer needs, preferences, and buying habits
  • Provide accurate and timely planning and specification interpretation, quotation, and technical support
  • Plan promotional events and presentations with distributor personnel to promote Eaton's position and achieve assigned sales goals

Requirements

  • General knowledge of Eaton Electrical product and service capabilities
  • Ability to build trust and relationships with various types of people
  • Ability to anticipate and be proactive on customer needs
  • Ability to leverage internal stakeholders to meet customer and organizational needs
  • Ability to learn and utilize digital tools and proprietary software
  • Technical problem-solving, communication, customer service, time management, presentation, planning, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of sales processes
  • Bachelor's degree with three years in a technical or commercial field, Associates degree with five years in a technical or commercial field, or a high school diploma with 7 years in the technical or commercial field will be considered
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • Possess a valid driver's license
