About the position

The Senior Sales Engineer at Lightpath plays a crucial role in engaging with high-level executives to provide strategic guidance on technology investments and innovations. This position collaborates closely with account teams to deliver exceptional technical solutions tailored to customer needs, while also managing ongoing projects and initiating new sales opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and sales acumen, with a proven track record of building relationships at the C-level.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with Engineering, Operations, Offer/Product Management & Service Assurance Teams.
  • Represent Customer and Lightpath viewpoints in product scoping, development and design process.
  • Think outside of the box to create a strategic vision for serviceable and supportable products.
  • Define detailed technical requirements for product supportability and assess the products against those requirements.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert focused on specific product sets.
  • Coordinate and Project Manage Launch readiness activities, such as training.
  • Ability to see and present 'the big picture' and offer solutions for improvement.
  • Understand the financial and technical challenges of customer requirements and Lightpath capabilities.
  • Articulate and understand Lightpath's technology and the benefits that can be achieved in customer environments.
  • Strong understanding of competitive technologies, competitor positioning, and emerging technologies that could be both cooperative and competitive.
  • Participate and successfully complete all companywide mandates/training in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Ethics and professional standards.
  • Comply with all corporate and organizational security policies and guidelines.
  • Abide by all policies and procedures.
  • Perform a myriad of tasks as required and/or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or experience in relevant field preferred.
  • Overall Experience: 15+ years.
  • Balance of both strong technical and strong strategic skills.
  • Ability to develop trusted relationships and a strong internal network.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with project management experience.
  • Understanding of Cloud Services including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Knowledge of virtualization techniques such as VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft.
  • Understanding of AC and DC power systems as they relate to Telecom and Enterprise network and server infrastructure components.
  • Familiarity with network/routing protocols including MPLS, BGP, SIP, DWDM, SONet/SDH, Long-haul & Metro Transport, Ethernet, IP Peering Fiber Optic Outside Plant as well as VoIP technologies.
  • Experience with IP Address management and subnets.
