About the position

The Senior Sales Engineer (SSE) at Diversified plays a crucial role in the pre-sales process by collaborating with Account Executives to provide technical expertise for various opportunities, including RFPs and Design-Build projects. The SSE is responsible for delivering all technical documentation required for proposals, ensuring that solutions align with customer needs and operational workflows. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to conceptualize and explain complex technology solutions to clients with varying levels of technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive communication with Account Executives and Customers.
  • Attend discovery meetings to identify technology and business requirements.
  • Conduct site surveys to gather design space details as necessary.
  • Conceptualize and explain technology solutions to Customers with varying technical expertise.
  • Validate solutions for standard RFP/RFQ and Consultant Design-Bid-Build opportunities.
  • Review RFPs in detail and identify areas of concern for the Account Executive or Director of Sales Engineering.
  • Submit technical RFIs during the bid process as needed.
  • Review architectural, electrical, and mechanical documentation related to installation requirements.
  • Provide quality deliverables to Account Executives for proposals, including detailed equipment bills of materials and labor estimates.
  • Provide plan markups in Bluebeam and/or CAD for infrastructure requirements.
  • Participate in internal kick-off meetings with the Project Team after contract award and provide knowledge transfer to the Design Engineer.
  • Maintain communication with the Design Engineer and review Drawing Package submittals prior to implementation.
  • Participate in vendor product demonstrations and maintain relationships with manufacturer representatives.

Requirements

  • AVIXA CTS-D Certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • Certifications or training with at least one DSP platform (e.g., Biamp, QSC).
  • Certifications or training with at least one control platform (e.g., Crestron, Extron).
  • Certifications or training with at least one AV over IP platform (e.g., Crestron, Evertz).
  • Certifications or training with at least one collaboration platform (e.g., Zoom, Webex).
  • 7+ years of experience in audiovisual systems design.
  • Minimum 5+ years of design experience in the AV industry.
  • Clear understanding of project phases and the construction process for audiovisual systems.
