About the position

The Systems Engineer at Extreme Networks will play a crucial role in supporting the Sales Account Executive team in a Pre-Sales capacity, specifically focusing on SLED (State, Local, Education) accounts. This position requires the engineer to travel to customer sites to present Proof of Concepts and contribute to the design, planning, implementation, and training on the Extreme Networks architecture. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, flexible, and willing to work outside of their comfort zone, embodying the core values of Extreme Networks. In this role, the Systems Engineer will assist the Pre-Sales team in designing and implementing secure network solutions. They will provide consultative support for pre-sales, partners, and customers regarding Extreme Networks solutions. The engineer will also be responsible for presenting at trade shows and seminars, overseeing internal demonstration facilities, and preparing and delivering customer presentations to various management levels. Additionally, they will provide educational training on cutting-edge technologies from Extreme Networks and effectively utilize Wi-Fi test and planning tools such as Ekahau and Hamina. The role requires independent work while coordinating and communicating with cross-functional groups to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Pre-Sales team in the design, planning, and implementation of a Secure Network Solution.
  • Provide consultative support for pre-sales, partners, and customers on Extreme Networks Solutions.
  • Present at trade shows, seminars, and oversee internal demonstration facilities.
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations to all levels of management.
  • Provide educational training on leading-edge technologies from Extreme Networks.
  • Effectively use Wi-Fi test and planning tools, such as Ekahau and Hamina.
  • Work independently, coordinate, and communicate with all cross-functional groups.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in networking technologies.
  • Expert in networking technologies with competitive network industry experience.
  • Proven ability to effectively influence customer decisions and displace competition.
  • Thorough knowledge of security design considerations and ability to implement and perform analysis of network and systems.
  • Hands-on experience using network tool sets for wired, wireless, and security products.
  • Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting and problem resolution in a network environment.
  • Keen ability to understand and analyze customer requirements and position Extreme Networks solutions effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex customer interactions in difficult circumstances and control customer expectations to maintain satisfied customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, technical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • A proven team player.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within territory up to 60%.
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry Wireless Certifications are encouraged (CWTS®, CWNA®, CWDP®, CWAP®, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of two or more of the following networking technologies: Network Access Control (NAC), Radius, 802.1x, Active Directory, LDAP, etc.
  • Understanding of Security Principles: Firewalls, VPNs, and Intrusion Prevention.
  • Familiarity with Cloud technologies: AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Knowledge of Wireless, VPN, SDN, SaaS.
  • Understanding of Ipv4/v6 Routing Protocols (RIPv1/v2/v3, OSPFv2/v3, VRRP, MPLS, BGP, PIM, etc.).
  • Experience with Layer2 Switching (802.1Q, 802.1D, 801.x).
