About the position

Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is seeking a Senior Salesforce Developer and Solution Architect to join a high-performing team dedicated to the development and implementation of a world-class online learning platform (LXP). As a Senior Salesforce Developer and Solution Architect, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining multiple large components of the LXP platform. You will participate fully in the software development life cycle, researching, designing, and implementing technical solutions in Salesforce to meet business requirements. Your role will also involve identifying opportunities to improve and simplify the applications portfolio, contributing to the creation and maturing of best practices within the Salesforce platform, and acting as a technical liaison to both internal and external clients. Additionally, you will mentor junior staff and ensure adherence to Harvard University IT technical standards, policies, and the Code of Conduct. This position is a full-time role with benefits, and it is expected to last through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on funding, university priorities, and satisfactory job performance. The work environment is office-based, and the health of the workforce is a priority, with encouragement for employees to stay up-to-date on CDC-recommended vaccines.

Responsibilities

  • Participate fully in the software development life cycle.
  • Research, design, and implement technical solutions in Salesforce to deliver business requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and simplify applications portfolio and implement related enhancements.
  • Contribute to creation and maturing of best practices within Salesforce platform.
  • Act as a technical liaison to internal and external clients and mentor junior staff.
  • Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other duties as needed or required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
  • Platform Developer II level of knowledge in developing, testing, and deploying solutions as well as integrating with other systems using a variety of technologies.
  • Experience developing complex, distributed platforms in Salesforce.
  • Expert knowledge in one or more relevant development technologies such as Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, Salesforce Lightning, SQL and SOQL.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Experience in using Salesforce DX for source-driven development, efficient CI/CD processes.
  • Proficient in designing, configuring, and managing Salesforce Experience Cloud environments.
