About the position

The Senior SCADA Engineer at Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is responsible for the design and integration of SCADA systems for substations and power systems. This role involves overseeing the conceptual and detailed design of new and upgraded substations, managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and ensuring successful commissioning and startup support. The engineer will work closely with clients and internal teams to implement custom systems and ensure compliance with industry standards and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual and detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations.
  • Material procurement and construction support for substation projects.
  • SCADA system design and integration for transmission, distribution, and renewable energy plants.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders on SCADA and communications planning and infrastructure.
  • Integration and implementation of custom systems using IEC 61131-3 programming and various SCADA protocols.
  • Acting as the lead SCADA interface to clients and internal project managers.
  • Occasional travel for onsite SCADA commissioning and client meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of project engineering experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Experience with bulk power transmission substations and renewable plant PPC operation.
  • Knowledge of voltage/VAR control systems and system integration with Wind, Solar, and BESS resources.
  • Familiarity with RTU/Data Concentrator/PLC hardware and HMI & SCADA software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet fast-paced project schedules.
  • Advanced knowledge of power engineering principles and applicable codes and standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with SEL-RTAC or OrionLX data concentrators.
  • Experience with SEL, GE, and other protective relays.
