About the position

The Senior Scientific Research Analyst will lead analytical support for US federal government and funding organizations, utilizing the Dimensions platform to empower data-driven decision-making in scientific research funding and evaluation. This role involves collaborating with a dynamic team to deliver exceptional service to clients, ensuring they can effectively use data and tools to inform their research investments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analytical support for US federal government and funding organizations.
  • Help leaders use tools and analyze data for scientific research funding decisions.
  • Support customers in the responsible use of data for funding decisions.
  • Demonstrate the use of publication metrics and data to evaluate research impact.
  • Monitor and evaluate scientific research landscapes for program staff and thought leaders.
  • Manage delivery of the Dimensions product and analytical support across the team.
  • Expand skills in machine learning, bibliometrics, and data visualization techniques.
  • Provide implementation, training, and ongoing support for Dimensions tools and services.
  • Understand client business needs and match them to Dimensions data and tools.
  • Answer questions and provide advice on Dimensions offerings.
  • Develop and maintain lasting client relationships.

Requirements

  • Understanding of the Science & Technology ecosystem including scientific research funding.
  • Knowledge and interest in bibliometrics, scientometrics, research assessment, and science policy.
  • Expertise in data analytics and visualizations using SQL and Python.
  • Experience in managing analysis and support tasks.
  • Expertise in research data including author and institutional disambiguation.
  • Experience in creating and presenting interactive training for online tools.
  • Experience in supporting teams to create Boolean searches for research topics.
  • Experience in creating data visualizations using tools like Plotly and matplotlib.
  • Experience querying databases via SQL.
  • Experience in scholarly communications, research evaluation, or science policy.
  • Strong communication skills for varied audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in or engaging with biomedical or national security-relevant technology research communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining customer relationships in a collaborative environment.
