About the position

The Senior Scientist I position in Hair Color Applied Research at L'Oréal Research & Innovation focuses on developing innovative hair color products and technologies. This role involves translating consumer needs into technical solutions, designing sustainable formulas, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes. The position requires a strong technical background and the ability to work in a multicultural environment, contributing to the creation of high-performance formulations that align with L'Oréal's vision for sustainable beauty.

Responsibilities

  • Create new hair color products/technologies from concept to formulation and evaluation.
  • Design sustainable hair color formulas to meet project objectives and evaluate them.
  • Generate and validate hypotheses to understand mechanisms of action and bring perceivable benefits to consumers.
  • Be responsible for quality, documentation, stability, and data management related to product development.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented international environment.
  • Establish technical paths and milestones to meet project objectives.
  • Communicate and present results and technologies effectively to colleagues and senior management.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant scientific literature, raw material technologies, and consumer trends.
  • Implement patent strategies to safeguard internal technologies.

Requirements

  • A completed advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a scientific or engineering field.
  • 0-2 years (PhD) or 3-5 years (Masters) of relevant industry experience in color product formulations.
  • Experience with color science & color theory is preferred.
  • Experience with Hair Structure, Formulations, Hair Reactive Chemistry, and Material Sciences is preferred.
  • The ability to lift 25 lbs (11.3 kg).
  • The ability to be onsite in the office as this is an essential function of the position.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without the need for legal sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in personal care industries is preferred.
  • Experience with problem solving and experimental design/execution is preferred.
